It's kind of a funny thing - the way chasing our life's dreams goes. We pursue them, in the beginning, all filled with joy and an eager kind of excitement and energy. Moving along quite nicely with planning and research and doing everything that feels right. We are dealing with stuff that arises and getting it done! And then, it happens...
Suddenly and out of nowhere - wham - we are struck with fear. Paralyzing dread and this seems to open the flood gates to a barrage of negativity and defeatist kind of chatter within. And this fear begins to drag us back to our old ways... Where the limiting beliefs kept us held hostage for so long, so long ago...
HOW ON EARTH? When you have worked so hard to move past that and you have been doing everything right as you set about daily, creating this life that you have chosen for yourself?! It's alright tho - it happens to almost all of us.
The beautiful part of this story is, you know that you have come so far already, and you have strength and courage that you didn't have in the past when these old ways were so much a part of your life! THIS TIME, you know you are going to be able to move forward.
When your self-doubt tries to push it's way back and convince you that you don't have a chance to be successful - pause and allow the feelings of fear to BE. That's right, simply check in and let it exist, only momentarily of course, but it needs to be appreciated for what it is. It's a feeling and it's valid!
Fear usually occurs when you are so very near to a major step forward. Out of your comfort zone, out of the place where you have rested comfortably and contentedly - but it's not the place where you want to be anymore! Fear comes as you step into the unknown...
You may take time to reflect on where you were before you began chasing your life's dreams - how very much fear was present for you at that time - along with the limiting beliefs, negative chatter and all the stories that tried to keep you 'stuck'. Back then you found the strength and courage to face any fear that bubbled up and you moved forward - and you were OK!
Guess what?!? That's exactly what you will do again - muster up your courage and know that you have the strength to move forward and you will be OK again!
(All our feelings need to be validated and appreciated for what they are - simply feelings. They do not define us. They do not keep us captive. It is unrealistic to expect only good feelings to exist - we are fully alive human beings and as such it is our right to experience all the full feelings that human beings do! And if you have trouble accepting that some uncomfortable feelings will be showing up from time to time - remember - you couldn't possibly know what the wonderful feels like unless you have experienced it's opposite!)
